Solo developer FunkyMouse announced that LANESPLIT, a motorcycle racing sim where you weave in and out of traffic at dangerously high speeds, will launch on January 28th for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions coming later.
In what is perhaps the definition of white-knuckle racing, LANESPLIT is about driving as fast as you can between the blur of brake lights across various traffic patterns and weather conditions at several locations around the world. You’ll race through the downtown highways of Japan, the mountain turnpikes of Switzerland, and the ocean-front roads of Miami as you are always mere inches away from death. FunkyMouse says they’re trying to translate a true sense of speed in the game:
“LANESPLIT was built around the concept of making sure that players can feel a true sense of speed,” said Shakya, Founder and solo developer at FunkyMouse. “Going fast is so rarely communicated well in games. Physics, motion blur, tight controls, sound design, and music all come together for a multi-sensory experience where players become one with the road.”
The goal is to climb the global leaderboards, riding either solo or in online co-op. You can also hop into Rush Hour mode with additional traffic for more of a challenge, or on the opposite end of the spectrum, check out Zen mode, which removes all traffic from the road so you can get into a speedy flow state and Zen out.
