I’ve gotten pretty good at finding and recommending “friend slop” games to my Gaming Nexus teammates for our sporadic team gaming sessions. I’m still awful about actually joining these play sessions, but I’ll work on that part.
Today, I’ve got a new one for our team in the form of Pebbles Games’ and PlayTogether Studio’s first-person co-op survival road trip game Arctic Drive, coming to PC, Mac, and Linux, though no release window was given. There are also plans for a console version and cross-platform play.
In Arctic Drive, you and up to three friends traverse a procedurally generated frozen land as you work together to survive the harsh elements. You’ll need to coordinate roles, share supplies, revive each other, and keep your truck and RV convoy rolling. First and foremost, you’ll need to take care of your bodily needs – hunger, thirst, and body temperature – but your truck is your lifeline in Arctic Drive, so you’ll need to take care of it as well. Maintain the engine, heater, tires, storage, and instruments by exploring and gathering loot. Everything is a physical object in the game, so if you can pick it up, you can load it in your truck or trailer.
Or sometimes you’ll just need to stop to take a leak. Watch out for your teammates’ yellow snow. Check out the announcement trailer below:
