There is more to a sporting event than simply what is happening on the court or field during a game, but sports video games don’t often portray what is happening off the court very well. 2K Sports is looking to fix that with NBA 2K26, adding several improvements to enhance the look and feel of its digital NBA action to bring the current-gen versions of the game more in line with its real-life counterpart.

Turning up the dial on authenticity, 2K26 utilizes a redesigned lighting engine to improve light intensity and color correction, as well as new floor shaders to bring arenas to life more vividly than before. Additionally, a new player shader to bring out the subtleties of each player’s skin, muscle definition, and even the stitching on their jerseys. Arena atmosphere has also been expanded, with new crowd character models, new arena elements unique to teams (like “The Wall” for the Clippers), and fan items like rally towels and LED wristbands for light shows.

The broadcast booth is getting a glow up as well, with NBA analyst Tim Legler joining the broadcast team of Kevin Harlan, Greg Anthony, Stan Van Gundy, and Shams Charania. The commentary team will now react more dynamically to what is happening on the court, with a shift in tone when a close game is coming down to the wire, for instance.
