Battlefield has been the talk of the gaming town since last week's big reveal event. Longtime fans are excited. Newcomers are curious. Seeing this level of excitement for Battlefield 6 has been a glorious thing. Luckily, for all excited parties, we don't have to wait long to get our first taste of the game, as the first week of an open beta will take place this weekend, August 9th through 10th across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. If you don't want to wait until the 9th, you can watch an hour of Twitch streams from partnered creators to unlock open beta access beginning August 7th. A second beta test will run August 14th through 17th.
Week one will include three maps: Siege of Cairo, Liberation Peak, and Iberian Offensive. It will also feature five game modes: Conquest, Closed Weapon Conquest (class-restricted weapons), Breakthrough, Domination, and King of the Hill. The second beta weekend will keep all of these maps and modes while adding in more of both.
The Battlefield 6 open beta does not require a purchase or pre-order to play, you simply have to download the open beta app from your preferred storefront. Participating will award cosmetic items including soldier skins, weapon skins, charms, and vehicle skins to use when the full game releases on October 10th.
