New developer To The Sky has teamed up with publisher Thunderful to bring its four player cooperative hack-and-slash game, Godbreakers, to PC and PlayStation 5 in 2025, including Steam Deck compatibility. Today, we’ve received our first look at combat, abilities, and some of the six biomes that will be included at launch. And if you like what you see, a free demo is available right now on Steam.
Godbreakers are entities brought back by celestial beings to destroy the Monad, a rogue artificial intelligence. To do so, players will have to absorb enemy powers to turn against them, chaining abilities together between co-op partners for powerful synergies as you take down powerful, multi-stage bosses.
I’m digging what I’ve seen so far. You can check out the trailer for yourself below, as well as the big features Godbreakers is touting:
Frenetic Co-op Action for 1-4 Players – Join forces with friends in fast-paced, chaotic battles to coordinate abilities, chain attacks, and take down powerful bosses together.
Engaging Gameplay Elements – Weaken enemies mid-fight and absorb their abilities to turn the tide of battle, charge energy, take their power, then unleash a Godbreak: a devastating attack that uses the enemy’s own strength against them.
Memorable Boss Fights – Clash with a wild roster of multi-phase bosses, each with evolving attack patterns and distinct personalities, that will test reflexes and coordination, pushing players and their crew to thrive in peak chaos.
Fast, Fluid Combat with Strategic Depth – Cancel moves mid-action for precise control in real time, and chain together strikes, dashes, and abilities to unlock new weapons with runs to keep tactics evolving.
Experimentation with Builds – Shape combat style by experimenting with builds and unlocking Archetypes, each with their own weapons and traits.
Explore Vibrant Biomes – Fight through six surreal biomes, each filled with unique enemies, deadly hazards, and challenges.
