Anvil Game Studios announced late last week that its large-scale PvP shooter, Holdfast: Nations at War, is making the move to consoles, releasing for PlayStation5 and Xbox Series X|S on July 9th. If you’re a fan of multiplayer shooters, you’ve probably heard of Holdfast, and even if you’re not, there’s a good chance that you have thanks to the viral video below (which requires a YouTube sign-in, I’m sorry).
Holdfast boast matches of over 150 players battling it out across multiple eras of war, including the Napoleonic Wars and the first World War. Playable in either first or third person, and designed with role-play in mind, it is for both casual and hardcore gamers alike. If you want to just hop in and shoot stuff, you certainly can, or you can choose a role and dive deep. There are 27 classes to play as featuring a variety of roles, from being an officer, to operating artillery, or even assuming command of a naval vessel.
Alongside the console release, cross-platform support is also being added to the game, with more updates coming, including a naval expansion featuring an expanded player count, new canon repair mechanics, and new naval maps.
I can’t wait to give ‘em steel. Check out the console announcement trailer:
