Man oh man, the summer games blitz is well underway, with announcements, reveals, and trailers galore. It’s this week or so stretch each year where it can be easy to miss out on some special game announcements, but I’m here now to make sure there is one game reveal that you absolutely do not miss: Echoes of the End.
Echoes of the End is a cinematic action-adventure game launching this summer for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Until yesterday, I had never heard of it, but it has now skyrocketed up my wishlist to become one of my most anticipated games of the year. The debut game from Icelandic studio Myrkur Games, Echoes of the End follows Ryn, a woman born with powerful and volatile magical abilities who ventures out to rescue her brother and save the world (duh!). On her journey, she is joined by a scholar named Abram Finlay, who seems quite adept in combat based on the new trailer.
The two must uncover a conspiracy that could plunge the world of Aema into chaos as it plays out over 10 handcrafted chapters full of cinematic moments and incredible-looking combat. The Unreal Engine 5 title features full performance capture and photogrammetry based on real-life Iceland.
