I’ve been meaning to write about Towers of Aghasba for days now, after its appearance at the recent PlayStation State of Play. It is an interesting blend of city-building and adventure games that has been embedded into my brain since the State of Play event. I can’t wait to get my hands on this game, and it won’t be long now – Towers of Aghasba is releasing in Early Access on PlayStation 5 and Steam this November.
In Towers of Aghasba, you play as a junior architect for the Shimu tribe, who return to their homeland to rebuild after fleeing 50 years prior. To assist with the rebuilding process, you are tasked with constructing villages and other supporting structures. The catch is that you will also need to restore Aghasba’s ecosystem to gain access to the resources you need to rebuild. This is the central part of the gameplay loop – balancing rebuilding the ecosystem to provide resources you need while also rebuilding your villages.
The journey will take you far and wide, across deserts and oceans, where you will meet strange characters and some not-so-friendly creatures as well. Every player’s experience will be different depending on where and how they choose to build. You will also be able to invite three friends to your world to explore with you, or perhaps trade unique items amongst yourselves.
