Crytek’s long-running PvEvP extraction shooter Hunt: Showdown is finally getting a massive engine overhaul, including proper PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions. The big update will drop on August 15th and bring with it the move to CRYENGINE 5.11, as well as performance improvements for PC, a new user experience design, and a new map.

In the weeks ahead, Crytek will be engaging the Hunt: Showdown community with surveys, sneak peeks at the upgrade, the evolution of the Hunter recruitment and Prestige systems, and more. One big caveat of this much-needed upgrade is that support for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions will come to an end. As a gesture of goodwill, Crytek will offer a free upgrade to the PS5 and Xbox Series’ versions to current owners of the game.

It's been a while since I’ve played Hunt: Showdown, but there is something really compelling about its gameplay loop. I suppose that we will have to start asking, “Can it run Hunt: Showdown?”, as of August 15th.
