Another spin-off is rising from the ashes of Epic Games’ now defunct third-person MOBA Paragon. Omeda Studios announced today that its game Predecessor is getting a closed beta on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, which begins December 5th. The test will run until January 5th and features cross-platform play with PC folks, where it has been in Early Access for the better part of a year.

During the beta, you can participate in 5v5 team battles on a traditional three-lane MOBA map with a variety of heroes to choose from. Naturally, each hero has its own abilities and weapons, with Predecessor promising to have one that fits your personal playstyle. The Predecessor beta is open to North American and European players, who can sign-up at the game’s website to request a beta code. One cool feature, if you do jump in, is that all your progress from the beta will carry over to the full game when it releases. You can check out the new closed beta trailer below.

An interesting sidebar is that Predecessor and fellow spin-off game Paragon: The Overprime bear a striking resemblance to each other, to say the least. There may never be a better example of "direct competitors".
