At long last, Battlefield 2042’s worst map is getting the rework treatment from developer DICE alongside title update 5.2, which launches next week and features several quality-of-life improvements to boot. The Hourglass map will be the final launch day map to get the rework treatment, and as most fans I’m sure will agree – it sorely needed it. DICE has reduced the overall size of the map to keep combat focused, with more opportunities to defend via additional cover littered throughout primary traversal paths.

Beyond the map redesign, SMG and LMG weapons from the Vault are getting attachments for All-Out Warfare. SMGs and LMGs are also receiving updates to bullet dispersion akin to what DICE did with assault rifles recently. Ammo Crates have been improved as well, with reduced recharge and supply times that now give an extra magazine for both primary and secondary weapons of players in range. Finally, squad management has been tweaked, with squad leaders now able to lock squads to keep randoms out of your group, in addition to the ability to kick players from the squad altogether.

There is more to the update, and you can read the full post at the Battlefield blog right here. Like so many games these days, Battlefield 2042 got off to a rocky start, but I am approaching 200 hours played and can assure you that it’s the best it has ever been if you’re contemplating jumping in.
