Pickleball: Smash brings America’s fastest-growing sport to consoles and PC later this year

Yes, you read that correctly; a sport you may have never heard of is growing at a rapid pace across these United States. You also read correctly that said sport is getting its own video game courtesy of the folks at publisher GameMill Entertainment, who today announced Pickleball: Smash for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. It launches this November and features single-player matches against AI, local multiplayer for up to four players, minigames, and tournament play to test your skills. Pickleball: Smash also lets you create and customize your own character with a variety of outfits, rackets, and accessories. Players on Nintendo Switch get an extra cool feature – motion controls that capture your movement and swings for deeper immersion.

GameMill isn’t lying; pickleball is having a moment in the USA, growing exponentially in recent years, including a massive jump from 4.8 million to 8.9 million players from 2021 to 2022 alone. In fact, it’s becoming so big that there is now a Major League Pickleball organization, with teams being bought for as much as $10 million in some instances. Who knew?
