Pixel art football game LEGEND BOWL kicks off on consoles this summer

More On: LEGEND BOWL

As the usual sports simulation games have grown increasingly stale for me in recent years, like many of you no doubt, I have turned to experiences that are more novel than the typical annual releases. Today, thanks to developer Super Pixel Games and publisher Top Hat Studios, I have a new football game to look forward to in LEGEND BOWL, a blend of arcade and simulation-style football with a gorgeous pixel art style. The best part is there is not long to wait, as it is coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch this summer. It is already available on PC.

Tecmo Bowl fans will notice the resemblance right off, but LEGEND BOWL is more than that, featuring many of the accoutrements of modern day football games. For starters, there is a 32-team franchise mode with full 17-game seasons and an off-season with a draft. The game also includes realistic weather, depth charts, player ratings, uniform and stadium editors, playbooks, reactive crowds, and more. If there is a drawback, it’s that there is no online multiplayer, opting for four-players locally instead.

Check out a new console release trailer below and prepare to hit the pixelated gridiron. Oh, and if LEGEND BOWL seems like your thing, Super Pixel Games is also developing a college football version titled COLLEGE BOWL. They're after my wallet, that's for sure.
