One of my favorite announcements from the recent cornucopia of gaming showcases is a rhythm-based battle royale game called Headbangers Rhythm Royale from publisher Team 17 and developer Glee-Cheese. We didn’t get an exact release date, but it’s coming later this year to PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
In Headbangers, 30 player-controlled pigeons compete in four rounds of musical minigames that will test your memory, reflexes, reaction time, rap ability (!), and of course, rhythm. At launch, the game will include 23 minigames, hundreds of customization items for your pigeon avatar, a free battle pass, and cross-platform play.
I love the twist on the battle royale formula, riffing off (pardon the pun) games like Fall Guys with a musical twist. I double-pigeon dare you not to bob your head to the announcement trailer:
