More On: Maximum Football

If you’re tuned into the sports gaming scene, you may remember a fledgling football sim from recent years called Doug Flutie’s Maximum Football, which had two iterations in 2019 and 2020, respectively. Fast forward to 2023 and developer Modus Studios, along with their publishing arm Modus Games, is rebooting the IP as a free-to-play live service football sim dubbed simply as Maximum Football, and it’s launching this year on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Maximum Football has been totally rebuilt on Unreal Engine 5 and features physics-based gameplay, full team customization from rosters to logos, a Dynasty Mode with a player recruitment and drafting system, local and online multiplayer, and the ability to play under professional or college game rules. Of course, as a service title you can expect a steady stream of DLC that will introduce new rule sets, game modes, customization options, and other features post-launch.

Maximum Football hits Steam Early Access this Spring, followed by a console release sometime later this year, and I have to say - things are looking pretty stellar so far.
