Journey across the beautiful islands of New Caledonia in Tchia

More On: Tchia

French developer Awaceb invites you to explore the islands of New Caledonia in their upcoming open-world sandbox game Tchia, and today it released part two of a three-part video series showcasing the inspiration for the game – the actual islands of New Caledonia.

Awaceb is a nine-person studio whose founders grew up in New Caledonia, located in the south Pacific Ocean, east of Australia and north of New Zealand. As you might expect with that sort of geography, New Caledonia is a stunning locale full of flora and fauna not found in other parts of the world. Luckily, the staff at Awaceb did us the favor of visiting the islands themselves and capturing the source of their inspiration for Tchia, which you can check out below.

If you aren’t familiar, in Tchia you will explore the archipelago as the titular character, whose father has been abducted by the islands’ evil ruler and strange creatures known as Maano. She must master her soul-jumping ability which allows her to control more than 30 animal species and hundreds of objects on her adventure across New Caledonia to defeat the Maano.

Tchia is scheduled to launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 sometime this Spring.
