Somerville, the hotly anticipated debut game from developer JUMPSHIP is out now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S|X. It is also available as a part of Xbox Game Pass. Somerville is a narrative-based sci-fi adventure game in the vein of Inside and Limbo. In fact, JUMPSHIP’s co-founder and executive producer Dino Patti is also the co-founder and ex-CEO of developer Playdead – the studio behind the aforementioned Inside and Limbo.
In Somerville, you will explore a world devastated by an alien invasion as you attempt to make your family whole again. It looks mysterious and wonderful, and I’m quite jealous that I can’t enjoy it on my PlayStation. Never say never!
Launching Somerville was not the only thing JUMPSHIP did today, as they also were acquired by publisher Thunderful, the two parties announced. JUMPSHIP was founded in 2017 by Patti and fellow industry veteran Chris Olsen. The studio will retain its creative autonomy, according to Thunderful, and Patti will also be taking on the additional role of strategic advisor for Thunderful Games. JUMPSHIP is Thunderful’s tenth studio acquisition, and the first under new CEO Anders Maiqvist.
