Report: Modern Warfare 2 will receive paid campaign DLC in 2023

More On: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (2022)

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will receive robust post-launch support throughout 2023, including paid campaign DLC, according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier. In a post on Twitter, Schreier also re-iterated his report from earlier this year that there will be no new Call of Duty game releasing in 2023.

Rumors from Call of Duty leaker and Twitter user TheGhostofHope also circulated over the weekend that Modern Warfare 2 will receive a paid multiplayer map pack in 2023, which will feature remastered versions of fan-favorite maps from 2009's Modern Warfare 2. Perhaps both the campaign and multiplayer DLC will be released as one package next year, but that is purely speculation at this point.

Call of Duty publisher Activision has not commented on reports of the series skipping a new entry for 2023, but website VideoGamesChronicle reported that Activision did state during a second quarter financial earnings report earlier this year that new premium content was planned for Call of Duty in 2023, which would seem to indicate DLC-style content, rather than the launch of a new title.

We await official word on Activision's plans for the franchise in 2023 and beyond, but in the meantime, check out our breakdown of everything announced at Call of Duty: Next, or have a look at Modern Warfare 2's launch trailer below:
