Check out the new trailer for Resident Evil: Requiem

More On: Resident Evil: Requiem

A new trailer for Resident Evil: Requiem was revealed at Gamescom and focuses on some of the backstory of the new protagonist, Grace. In the first trailer it was revealed that Grace's mother was murdered at a hotel and in this new trailer we may be seeing that moment as her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft has to escort Grace out of the building. Needless to say, it doesn't end well.

Now I am still very excited about this game but this trailer made me worried. First off Grace is wearing dirty shoes on the bed, gross. Second, and this is the thing that worries me, is that I'm seeing something that was a major complaints of Resident Evil: Village. One of the most infuriating things about that game was the tired trope of characters withholding information from the main character. So many times in Village, Ethan meets up with Chris and asks him what's going on only to be met with "just trust me bro" and doesn't answer his questions. I am seeing the same thing in this game with Grace's mother refusing to tell her what's going on. It's one thing if it happens once, but if it's for an entire game boy does it get annoying. I really hope that isn't the case for Requiem.

Either way I am still excited about the game and hope more is revealed in the coming months.

Resident Evil: Requiem launches February 27th 2026 for PS5, Series X and PC.
