The Nintendo Switch 2 is a great success. Its launch last week saw high demand and high availability as they sold over 3.5 million units in its first four days. In those four days, the Switch 2 outsold every other console in the same time frame.
This goes to show what can happen when you have stock on hand to meet demand. While it's currently sold out in some places, it's still possible to find one on retail shelves in some areas. The Switch 2 is a solid upgrade over the previous Nintendo handheld and it goes to show how strong a brand Nintendo is with its record setting pace.
Nintendo expects to sell 15 million by next April and they're off to a pretty good start to meet that goal. With Nintendo owning 5 of the top 10 best selling consoles/handhelds of all time, it looks to be a given right now that Nintendo will add another one in the upper part of that list.
Nintendo Switch 2 Sells Over
3.5 Million Units Worldwide in First Four Days
Nintendo Co., Ltd. (HQ: Kyoto, Minami-ku, Japan; Representative Director and President: Shuntaro Furukawa, “Nintendo” hereafter) announced that its new game system, Nintendo Switch 2, sold over 3.5 million units worldwide in the four days following its release on June 5, 2025*. This is the highest global sales level for any Nintendo hardware within the first four days.
Nintendo Switch 2 is the successor to Nintendo Switch and features a larger, more responsive screen and new magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers, with more powerful processing and graphics performance that opens the door to new ways to play. With the system’s new GameChat feature, players can voice or video chat—or share their game screen—with friends online while playing a game with a simple press of the new C Button on the Joy-Con 2 controller**.
The lineup includes Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Set, which comes with a Nintendo Switch 2 Japanese-Language System (Japan Only) and a digital version of Mario Kart World, a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive game released on the same day as the system. This is an affordably priced offer for those considering the purchase of both the system and the game.
