Mixtape takes you back to when making out, sneaking out, and hanging out were everything

More On: Mixtape

I have a 14-year-old, so I've read and watched some YA (young adult) fiction. The Hunger Games. Ender's Game. More of The Hunger Games. A lot of YA stuff is corny if, like me, you strangled your inner child before graduating from middle school. But sometimes that inner child shows signs of life. Like when it saw this trailer for Mixtape today during the Summer Game Fest 2025.

Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley wasn't extra excited by Mixtape, but I was. It takes place way back in the '90s decade of the 20th century. If that excites you, you're about to take both Aspirin and Bayer for your back pain before RSVP'ing for your 30th high school reunion.

Mixtape takes you back to the days of trying to catch a buzz off Boone's Farm and passing around smokes behind the mall. Learning to skate and driving your mom's car at full speed on the beach. TP'ing rich homes with Smashing Pumpkins on rotation. Making lifelong pacts that there's no way to keep and owning the night long after the streetlights come on.

On their last night together, three friends embark on one final adventure. Play through a mixtape of memories, set to the soundtrack of a generation.

From BAFTA award-winning studio Beethoven & Dinosaur, and published by Annapurna Interactive, Mixtape is "coming soon" to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
