Elden Ring Nightreign releases an overview trailer

More On: Elden Ring Nightreign

Elden Ring Nightreign can be a little hard to pin down at first. I did participate in the closed network test, but the available playtimes were so awkward for me on an already busy weekend I really didn't get enough time in to justify a full preview. Im my limited time however, the elements of a Souls game were obvious, but the pacing, map movement, and overall goals of each run were markedly different. It's kind of like a Dark Souls extraction shooter. If that's confusing, then hopefully the overview trailer Bandai Namco released and embedded below will fill in any blanks.

Nightreign is an amazing concept in my opinion. To take the rich world of Elden Ring and create a playspace for shorter bursts yet retaining the elements of challenge and reward that appeal to the very best players appears to be a bit of genius. Unfortunately, I am just so rubbish at Souls games, I'm not sure I am ever really going to jump into Nightreign. There is an inescapable co-op element to this game, and I am just too sheepish to suffer the hard-carries from my matchmade teammates I would need to get over my own failings. But if you have the skills - or at least the time and desire to develop them, then I'm sure you'll be well rewarded with Nightreign.

Elden Ring Nightreign releases May 30th for PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Series X|S, and PC. Pre-orders are available now
