The Play Company, along with 2K, announced that as of RIGHT NOW, you can enter tournaments. I'm not talking local tournaments or online room tournaments. I am speaking on behalf of 2K, when I report that you can now enter tournaments from the comfort of your own game.
In the play now section of your game, you can learn how to enter and access exclusive tournament, also using an app called Play OS. There will be free to enter tournaments, as well as fee based, and even celebrity hosted tournaments, all in game. All the time. This is the first time this has been done from inside the game. And yes, you can win cash prizes too! From the press release...
"The deal makes The Play Company’s flagship product, Play OS, an Official Tournament Platform for the game. The Play Company will be responsible for coordinating and running weekly tournaments, and marquee events hosted by celebrities and NBA stars. 2K will provide The Play Company with in-game promotion, social support and a dedicated menu button in the Play Now section for eligible players to learn how to access exclusive NBA 2K tournaments on the Play OS app."
The service is now live, and can be used with the play now section, and even in MyTeam. 2K promises additional tournaments are on the horizon. This is only available in the states as of right now, and this is insane. It's also available for NBA2k25, and no previous versions of the game, because yes.
To enter the free to play tournaments, you must be 13 or older, where the fee based tournaments allow 18 or older in the US where permitted. Arizona is excluded. Play OS app is available ONLY for IOS right now. There is a website, but I didn't get too far. I found out the hard way. I guess maybe I need to go log into the Ipad. I'm kidding. I'm ineligible.
