If you had a PSP, and of course you did, you probably at least downloading or having a demo of the action rhythm game Patapon from 2007. Though it has some spinoffs, sequels, remasters, and the like, Patapon had a niche audience, similar to the likes of Parappa the Rapper, or Gitaroo Man.
If you're at all familiar, but miss it, you're in luck. A side scrolling rouge like musical game called Ratatan is in the works, and it's a collaboration between Game Source Entertainment, and the original creator of Patapon, Hiroyuki Kotani. In the game you will use musical instruments to take out droves of enemies. You control the Cobuns, through rhythmic commands, busting up colorful, yet aggressive bad guys, with music. Watching the trailer puts you right back into that Patapon feeling.
In addition, you will be able to move freely in some instances, and fever mode, gives you new music, and a new look with your characters. You can also play up to 4 players, local, or online. The game promises a 2025 release for all the things. The trailer already has 92,000 views at the time of this writing, and I am a sucker for music games like this.
