Collect trash from the ocean, build a town in Flotsam

More On: Flotsam

What are we going to do about this trash in the ocean problem? No, really, it seems to be a bigger issue than I thought. Well, maybe Flotsam can help prepare me for life on the high seas. The floating garbage town survival game wants you to scavenge what precious garbage you can from the ocean's surface and grow your city while doing your best to survive in this post-apocalyptic world. See, post-apocalyptic, it really is trying to teach me the skills I’ll need for the future.  I like the aesthetic of Flotsam a lot. The comic cel-shaded look gives off vibes of something I would have played back in the original Xbox days.

Flotsam has you overseeing a group of drifters navigating a polluted ocean on their mobile floating town. You search for garbage to recycle into usable units like workshops and desalinators. Craft items to help with fresh water and shelter or even washers to clean food and prevent disease and keep drifters happy.

Flotsam has been in Early Access since September of 2019, but is hoping to make its 1.0 release in this summer. The 1.0 release will see added controller support, an improved tutorial, more game content, and an ending is being added to the game.
