I hope you're ready for the new year! 198-- I mean 2024 is filled with so many surprises from Atari. Today it announces a four-game limited edition 2600 cartridge collection including Dark Chambers, Outlaw, Slave Mary, and Fatal Run. This rare, key art-work, Butcher Billy limited edition collection of 500 is available for pre-order on the Atari website beginning today.

The silver collectors' box includes a user manual all featuring the artwork of, frequent Atari collaborator, Butcher Billy. Butcher has worked with Stranger things, Marvel, Lionsgate. This release is apart of the Atari XP initiative. The initiative is a publisher of collectable, physical games, and never released Atari games from the 1970s and 1980s. Since its inception, it has introduced 18 games so far, all selling out. This collector set goes for $299.99 and probably won't stay comfortable on the counter, as previous releases from Atari are all sold out.

If you're a gamer from the 1980s and have your original Atari 2600 or 5200 console, great. If you weren't lucky enough to be at the original Atari drop in 1977, you can grab the newly released Atari 2600+. This console supports original cartridges from 1977 and 2023 and has some amazing added features.

New York, NY (December 12, 2023) - Atari® is excited to announce a four-game limited edition Atari 2600 cartridge collection featuring the art of renowned pop-culture artist and Atari collaborator Butcher Billy. The collection of Atari 2600 games — including Dark Chambers, Outlaw, Save Mary, and Fatal Run — is enclosed in a slipcover designed by Butcher Billy and features a new illustration that draws from the key art of the four titles. For the collection, Butcher Billy has re-interpreted the key art for each game in his own unique style.

Each game cartridge is enclosed in a silver collector’s box. The box, cartridge, and user manual all feature artwork by the Brazilian artist Butcher Billy. Butcher is known for mining modern culture for ideas, imagery, lyrics, and moods and then splicing them together into his own unique form of contemporary nostalgia. Butcher is a frequent collaborator with Atari and has worked with Netflix, Stranger Things, Marvel, Black Mirror, Honda, Warner, Lionsgate, Amazon Prime, Playboy, New York Times, and Universal Music.

The limited edition collection of 500 is available for $299.99 USD. Preorders begin on December 12 at atari.com.
