Trine is a beloved series. We've consistently scored it highly in our reviews: 8.5 for the original, 8.9 and 9.0 for Trine 2 on PC and Xbox 360 respectively, 8.5 for the previous installment. Now the latest in the franchise, Trine 5: A Clockwork Conspiracy, is set to release at the end of August bringing with it the series' trademark stlye, action, and interaction between characters. To that last point, we also have a preview of one of the characters - Pontius the Knight, Protector of the Realm. He's a bit of a portly protector, seemingly a big a fan of pies as he is of honor or valor, and uses his shield not just as protection from attacks, but as a key game mechanic to interact with his environment - reflecting light for puzzle solving, skating across water, even gliding to safety.
Joining Pontius will also be Amadeus the Wizard and Zoya the Thief and as is a trademark of the series, players will swap freely between them to find the best solution to the obstacles in each level. The latest press release details other key elements in Trine 5:
Trine 5 releases August 31st for PS4 and PS5, Xbox One and Series X|S, the Nintendo Switch, and PC.
