Last night I was able to sit in on the press only presentation of Hot Head game's upcoming game
Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness. The game is an interesting blend of old school adventure games with RPG elements bolted on. The game does a great job of capturing the Penny Arcade sense of humor and this is certainly not a game for those with sensitivity to graphic violence or foul language.
I honestly had limited expectations for the game but after seeing the demo I think the game is going to surprise a lot of people. The adventure part of the game is pure old school hunt and click kind of things and the combat is the standard Final Fantasy style combat where you attack in turns. Outside of standard attacks there are cool mini-game based power up attacks as well as team attacks where you can utilize more than one person in your team.
I know there was a lot of negative buzz about the graphics but what I saw last night was pretty solid. The graphics aren't going to blow anyone away but the game does look good. Hot Head wouldn't commit to a release schedule but said they were aiming to have an episode out every few months. The game will initially ship for the PC,MAC,and Linux but there was some indication that we may see the game on next gen consoles in the future.
