D&D Tactics ships, time to break out the funny dice

More On: Dungeons and Dragons: Tactics
If you own or have owned D&D dice and you own a PSP then you should at least rent Dungeons and Dragons: Tactics which is now available in stores.  I had a chance to check out the game at the Atari spotlight event last year and the game looks fantastic.  The game also has the depth to go with the good looks as the folks at Kuju were diligent in implementing all of the 3.5 rules into the game.  Of course the game is still accessible for those who don't know which die to roll for initiative with.  Outside of the deep single player side are some fun co-op and competitive multiplayer modes in case you're feeling social.

ATARI’S DUNGEONS & DRAGONS®: Tactics™ SHIPS

- First Ever DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Game for PSP® System Hits Stores in North America -

NEW YORK, August 14, 2007 – Atari, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATAR), one of the world’s most recognized brands and a third-party video game publisher, today announced that DUNGEONS & DRAGONS®: Tactics, a turn-based tactical role-playing game has shipped to retailers in North America.  Marking the first time the highly-coveted D&D® license has ever graced a next-generation portable system, D&D®: Tactics authentically utilizes the D&D 3.5 rule-set created by Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro, Inc. (NYSE: HAS).  Developed by Kuju Entertainment, D&D: Tactics is rated ‘T’ for Teen and is available in North America for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system for a suggested retail price of $39.95.  DUNGEONS & DRAGONS is under license from HPG, the licensing division of Hasbro, Inc.

In an original and intriguing DUNGEONS & DRAGONS storyline, D&D: Tactics players take on the role of a mortal child caught in a conflict of two competing dragons striving for godhood.  Choosing between these opposing forces is critical, as alignment and quests allows players to vacillate between good and evil.  Gamers will play through a series of adventures, completing various objectives along the way.  D&D: Tactics offers all the DUNGEONS & DRAGONS base character classes including Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Druid, Fighter Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer and Wizard.  In addition, there are two Psionic classes, the Psion and the Psychic Warrior.  Players are able to customize their characters and store as many as their memory stick can handle.

D&D: Tactics is an exciting and robust turn-based game that offers the strategic gameplay that DUNGEONS & DRAGONS fans and PSP system gamers have been waiting for,” said Jeremiah Cohn, Senior Product Manager, Atari, Inc.  “In addition, user-friendly and comprehensive controls move players through an engrossing story with more than 40 hours of gameplay.”

D&D: Tactics takes advantage of the PSP system’s wireless capability and offers gamers both co-op and competitive multiplayer modes.  Players can host an adventure and work cooperatively with other players to storm through monster-ridden levels, killing everything they encounter.  Competitive player-versus-player battle modes also exist including Last Man Standing, Gladiator and Dragon Kill.
