I loved the idea of
Hard Boiled appearing on the PlayStation 3 version of
John Woo's Stranglehold but a few details leaking out lately has sort of taken a little wind out of the sails for me. First off, it's region encoded meaning you can only play the game and movie on the PlayStation 3s in the countries that are allowed. There's a limited run of about six figures but that's not that bad. The bad thing is you can only play the movie on a PlayStation 3 and not any stand alone BD players. Ugh, that's a bummer. That means when I pick up a combo HD DVD / BR drive for my media center, I won't be able to watch
Hard Boiled on anything other than the TV my PlayStation 3 is connected to. The setup I have at my home allows me to stream movies from DVDs to alll my TVs in my house but the PS3 lock prevents that. I'm happy that it's coming out in a HD format but a little sad at the restrictions put on it.
Thanks
