Indie rhythm game Melatonin launches on PC Dec. 15; Switch soon to follow

More On: Melatonin

Solo developer David Huynh of indie studio Half Asleep is proud to announce a release date for his upcoming rhythm game about dreams and reality titled Melatonin. At its very core, Melatonin is a rhythm game about sleeping and dreaming, but it is also paired with beautiful and cozy hand drawn art and a melodic soundtrack. The game will take two to three hours to complete but you already know the replay value is there with its interesting premise and engaging mechanics!

Check out a statement from the developer himself: "You can learn a lot about someone from knowing what they dream about at night. Melatonin explores that concept and uses music to help convey the feelings of the main character to the player. There are clear influences from Rhythm Heaven on the gameplay but I truly believe Melatonin has its own unique style and more than enough original ideas to separate itself from the games it was inspired by."

Aside from obviously being a video game, Melatonin also explores the dynamic between dreaming when we're asleep and what we do when we're awake. Not much of the narrative is disclosed at the moment but there surely is a profound message to be discovered after playing through the experience. The game features over twenty levels across five chapters including practice and challenge modes. There's even a level editor for those that want to make their custom rhythm games that I can't wait to get my hands on! Melatonin is looking to be a cozy indie game coming at just the right time for the holidays.

Melatonin is coming to PC via Steam on December 15 and will be priced at $14.99 USD. A Nintendo Switch version is coming soon with an undisclosed release date.
