Whenever servers get shut down for old games it feels like the games being put out out to pasture. A final farewell and all we are left with are the memories we had playing those games. Now if you are someone that loves to hunt achievements, servers shutting down can be incredibly annoying as that leaves certain achievements unable to be completed forever.
