Atari has released a downloadable demo for their upcoming PSP puzzle game HOT PXL. The demo includes 10 mini-games and one boss battle and should give you a taste of the games quirkly style.  I had a chance to play a beta version of the game last year and I think this could be a hit for Atari as the games were a lot of fun and the game had a really interesting style (courtesy of the French design team behind the game).

Following the European launch of HOT PIXEL, Atari today announced the release of a playable demo of the pixellated mini-game paradise for PSP™ (PlayStation® Portable).  Available for free download now at Sony’s official home for PSP™ owners, www.yourPSP.com, the HOT PIXEL demo is the first demo from another publisher ever to be made available on the site.  Bringing frantic snack-size gaming to European PSP™ gamers for the first time, HOT PIXEL features 200 riotous mini-games taking inspiration from old school gaming and the new school digital lifestyle.

In HOT PIXEL the player guides his skate geek character through an average day in his pixellated digital world, taking on a series of increasingly weird and comic quick-fire mini-games ranging from the subtly eccentric to the wildly outrageous, borrowing some choice moments from Atari’s colourful video game past along the way.  Only an open mind and fingers of fire will let players conquer the hundreds of weird and wonderful scenarios.

The demo features one full episode of HOT PIXEL comprising 10 mini games and a boss battle. Weird and wonderful tasks thrown at the player include catching marshmallows, skateboard odd-one-out and staying on a diet in the face of an onslaught of hamburgers.
