More On: Outer Wilds

During today's Annapurna Interactive Showcase event, they announced that the critically acclaimed Outer Wilds will be getting a free next-gen upgrade on September 15, 2022 for Xbox Series S|X and PlayStation 5. This upgrade will implement native 60 FPS support and will be available for all existing owners of the game. The Switch version of the game is still in development, but with no release date announcement.

Outer Wilds is a role playing game where you find yourself stuck in a groundhog day time loop in a mysterious solar system. The game has won several awards including the Seamus McNally Grand Prize and Excellence in Design awards in the 2015 Independent Games Festival. It was nominated in 2020 for Game of the Year at both the D.I.C.E. Awards and the Game Developer Choice Awards. That same year, it won Best Game, Game Design, and Original Property during the British Academy Games Awards.

The expansion DLC to the critically acclaimed titled Outer Wilds: Echoes of the Eye is also available now. The expansion weaves in the existing world and narrative, introducing a new museum exhibit that marks the trailhead for one last journey into the wilds. Players can grab their flashlights and find the answers that await them in the darkest reaches of space. Should you pull at the thread and unravel the solar system’s deepest secret, or is some knowledge better left unknown?

Outer Wilds is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store for $24.99.
