I can't believe I slept on Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden

I've been engaging the hopeless Quixotic activity that we all attempt now and again; I've been trying to clean up my backlog. As I was drifting through the pile of games that I never got to earlier this year, I came across one that caught my eye. And now I'm regretting sleeping on the series, because Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden is a fascinating game.

Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden is the follow-up to Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars, which was reviewed by Rob Larkin for Gaming Nexus back in November of 2021. Rob didn't love The Isle Dragon Roars, as he was looking for something more strategic - like a deck builder. Indeed, that is also what I was expecting when I loaded up The Forsaken Maiden, but instead I found a delightful JRPG converted to a sort of table-top/video game hybrid. I instantly fell in love with it, so I decided to make a short video to share the game with others.

There is a certain relaxing charm to this game that I think will really resonate with certain players, particularly those that played old-school JRPG from the SNES era. I am absolutely going to be checking out the previous game in the series, and I'll be the first in line if Square Enix decides to publish any more. This might a something of a niche title, but I find that I fit precisely into that niche.

If you like what you see, Voice of Cards: The Forsaken Maiden is now available on Nintendo Switch (where it probably totally rocks), PlayStation, and Steam.
