Dune: Spice Wars to hit early access in two weeks

I mentioned this game previously when the first gameplay was revealed, but at that time the closest we could get to dates for this upcoming 4x sim was "early spring." Well the flowers are budding and temps are getting warmer and lo and behold a date is upon us. Dune: Spice Wars will move into early access on April 26th. 

Along with the announcement of the date, Funcom also wants to introduce us to the fourth faction in the game (but the first I've actually seen great detail about), none other than the Fremen. 

The Fremen are, of course, the heroes of Hebert's Dune novels, but in the game I would expect all factions (Fremen, Harkonnen, Atreides, and Smugglers) to get balanced treatment. However, at the Bremen's disposal are:

• Better adaptations to the harsh desert environment
• Stealth and guerrilla tactics in battle
• An opportunity to rally the various sietches across the desert to build a force to challenge the Empire
• A capable leader in Liet Kynes who can straddle both the worlds of the Fremen and Empire
• A capable cadre of councilors for the war table
• And unique fighting units like Fremen Warriors, Infiltrators, Skirmishers, Fedaykins, and Kulon Caravans

Dune: Spice Wars can be wishlisted now on Steam in advance of that April 26th Early Access release.
