iFixit's Steam Deck tear down shows how easy it can be to repair some things

I wish more companies would take the stance Valve is taking with the Steam Deck. You see, they offered up a video to show how to tear down their handheld as well as offer advice on what to do. And something that's really awesome, they are partnering with a few people, iFixit for starters, to offer replacement parts for the Steam Deck.

They've even thought about thumbstick issues where people have drifts with other controllers and made the Steam Deck easy to replace theirs. Other parts seem to be pretty accessible as well as the Steam Deck looks pretty modular in design.

Yes, when a product is under warranty it's nice to just contact the manufacturer to get a replacement. But once that warranty period over, it's up to you to either pay for it to get fixed or do it yourself. The fact that Valve is keen on letting consumers repair it themselves is something that other companies should embrace in my opinion.

Check out the tear down to see how nice the Steam Deck is constructed and be glad there's still one large company out there that's not forcing consumes to buy brand new products because they can't repair their old ones easily.
