Hidden Deep trailers continue to impress as the game moves into Early Access

More On: Hidden Deep

Hidden Deep, the 80s horror-inspired sci-fi thriller, launches into Early Access on Team today, meaning that we can all go spelunking down into the depths of whatever eldritch nightmare awaits us in these clearly deadly caves.

Once again, the trailers for Hidden Deep inspire a great deal of admiration for the way this game wears its inspirations on its sleeve. No, there are no actual Ridley Scott-style xenomorphs in this trailer, but everything else about this situation just screams out "Weyland Corporation", from the design of the vehicles to the little floating mapping device. Developed by Cogwheel Software (which consists of one solitary dude), Hidden Deep is clearly reaching out to fans of Aliens, The Thing, The Descent, and about a zillion other legendary horror flicks.

The mining facility in this game is "suboceanic", meaning that it dug into the ground beneath the ocean. No, the bottom of the ocean wasn't scary enough - lets go deeper! There is an overarching mystery to solve, while exploring, mastering new tools, and generally trying not to cave your head in. If you are too scared to go alone, you can take a friend on specific missions in "challenge mode", though online co-op is still being worked on during the early access period (local co-op or Steam remote play are your options for now).
