Legend of Mana debuts on mobile devices

More On: Legend of Mana

Originally released over twenty years ago, Legend of Mana was the fourth in the Mana series, a spin-off from the Final Fantasy universe that, at least to me in the 90's, felt like Square Enix's attempt to make a Zelda-type game. I remember fondly the second of the series, Secret of Mana, from 1993 because of the ways that game pushed the very boundaries of the genre. Having never played Legend of Mana, I guess there is no better time than now as the remaster of the game has been ported over to mobile devices following its original release in 1999 for the Playstation and remaster earlier this year for PC, PS4, and Switch.

Legend of Mana can be found on both Apple's App Store and the Google Play Store. The mobile versions adds touch screen controls but can be played with gamepad support, and saves can be stored right in the devices native cloud services. What's a little wild in my opinion is the game still costs $22, and that's even with a published release sale lasting through the 21st. Expect that price to climb closer to the $30 the other systems are seeing for this remaster. I can't believe people pay that much for mobile games but apparently Square Enix knows what they are doing because their games regularly some in at premium prices and they keep releasing more of them so it must be working...
