Games N Moorer vs. Darius Cozmic Collection

by: Eric -
More On: Darius Cosmic Collection

The Darius Cozmic Collection is all prepped to release on Steam on November 18, 2021, featuring four classic arcade shooters. The games in Taito Corporation's collection are all fancied up with a bunch of cool Steam-only features, which allow fans to set up their own multi-monitor visuals, replicating the arcade cabinet's original multi-screen setup. Super cool.

Some features of the new collection (cribbed from a recent press release):

  • Multi-monitor & sub-woofer support – for that authentic, arcade experience
  • 4 games and 7 variants – experience every iteration of arcade Darius up until Darius Gaiden!
  • 1-2 player couch co-op
  • Training Mode – Set your powerup levels and choose which zone to practice
  • Display features, Options & Gadgets galore – scale, smooth and add scanlines, adjust difficulty, number of lives and add information-displaying gadgets to customise your view!
  • Quick Save & Load – Save at any point during the game, then come back later to practice!
  • Online leaderboards – Challenge your friends’ best scores across every game mode.

Games N Moorer's Joseph Moorer, as a fan of arcade bullet-hell shooters, immediately scooped up one of our advance copies of Darius Cozmic Collection, which he promptly took out for an extended spin last night. You can tell he likes something when he plays more than 70 minutes or so (he also cusses a lot, which is a good sign).

As usual, Joseph gives a nice overview of the game and all of its features before getting down to business. He makes no bones about the fact that he is planning on using the Turbo feature, as the game is "very, very hard." Hop to the 9:30 mark if you want to jump directly into gameplay. Joseph plays some of Darius 1 before hopping over to Darius 2, eventually beating that one.

Darius Cozmic Collection Arcade is scheduled to release tonight on Steam with a 20% launch discount.
