So maybe JETT: The Far Shore is finally getting my attention. And not just because it's being introduced by Geoff Keighley in a suit-coat-over-t-shirt-with-ugly-shoes combo that I would've only worn in the earliest of 2000's. It's because I'm finally catching a whiff of its story in this trailer, rather than just seeing a tiny ship flying over big environments and supposedly letting that do all the talking.
Nah, here we've got people speaking in a calm Simlish language over big huge subtitles. We're hearing vague platitudes layered over vague sci-fi costumes and architecture. In the race against the end of the world, humanity has lost. It's now a thousand years after all that, and humanity is is rediscovering a world that doesn't want them. But at least this time they sent a poet.
This trailer opens up a whole new can of worms, but I'm content to let the early birds get those (if I may mix my metaphors).
JETT is here on October 5 for PS4, PS5, and PC.
