I've been reading a lot this weekend about The Ascent, the new cyberpunk twinstick shooter from developer Neon Giant and publisher Curve Digital. It seems that everybody on Twitter is playing this game, so I decided to sit down and check out the first hour.
Holy moly, I was not disappointed. Neon Giant has constructed a gorgeously detailed game world here. While the shooting and battles were fun, I had a great time also just staring at the characters and backgrounds. Take a look at the game's first hour here, which sets up the world and the (first, at least) central conflict facing the characters:
I am already rallying the rest of the GN crew to take to The Ascent as a group project over the next couple of weeks, or at least to rally for a few multiplayer sessions. More to come on that front, but at the very lease, I will be returning to The Ascent in the days ahead. It's just too good to avoid.
The Ascent is now available on Xbox consoles and PC, via Xbox GamePass and Steam.
