Eric and Pearl continue swinging through It Takes Two

More On: It Takes Two

You know how sometimes your kid says "Hey, we should do this!" and then you say "No, I think we should do this other thing!" and then your kids says "No, Dad, really, I think we should do this!" and it turns out that she is right and you are just a big old idiot? Yeah, that's how it's going in my current playthrough of It Takes Two with my eight-year-old daughter Pearl.

Despite my stupidity (and inability to play video games), we made a lot of progress today, beating up the nail-slinging toolbox that vexed us during our last session, sliding through some whirling fans, climbing a big tree and becoming captives of some wild militaristic faction of squirrel. It Takes Two is a weird game.

It's also no pushover. You can clearly hear me biting my tongue and struggling to keep my language Pearl-appropriate for the first ten minutes or so until I hit my rhythm. It didn't help that my kid (who doesn't even know what the buttons are called) would skate through some platforming section that took me eight tries to get through. Blargh.

It Takes Two is now available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Origin and Steam. GN's Charlie Coleman will be reviewing It Takes Two in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for that. The adventures of Pearl and her big dumb dad will continue in the days ahead.
