We have a few technologies in the PC world to try and minimize lag when playing fast, competitive shooters. Needless to say, any sort of lag can mean the difference between life and death.
AMD and NVIDIA have various ways to try and minimize lag. AMD has Anti-Lag and Boost while NVIDIA has Reflex. I'm not familiar with AMD's offerings but am with Reflex. But do they work the same or offer the same benefits?
YouTuber Battle(non)sense has a very informative video comparing the various methods and how well each one works. There's some good data here in easy to read graphs that demonstrates how effective each technology is. If you're into playing really want to know which thing can get you the best experience, take about 20 minutes and check it out.
