Want to test your survival skills? Rust is coming to consoles this spring

More On: Rust

Even though the "survival" genre has been around for a long time, I feel like its popularity has exponentially grown over the last decade or so. The pandemic certainly made the idea of an apocalyptic survival world feel a little more tangible.

If you're looking for a cathartic challenge to test your survival skills, Rust may be for you. The game's developer, Double Eleven, recently released a teaser trailer for its multiplayer survival experience on consoles. They've also announced that the game will launch on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this spring.

Players looking for the ultimate competitive survival experience on consoles will be able to play online with up to 100 others once Rust launches. Waking up on a mysterious post-apocalyptic island littered with dilapidated industrial monuments and probing scientists, it’s up to you to figure out how to keep yourself alive in a world where everything wants you dead.

In Rust, there is one goal above everything else: survive. Conquer thirst and hunger. Battle the elements. Create clothing. Placate or eliminate hostile forces, including other players, scientists, bears, and wolves (what a combination, right?). Rust is a game without rules. Use deception to take out, raid, and loot other players -- or be friendly, the choice is yours.
