More On: Estranged: The Departure

Estranged: The Departure is one of those titles that looks pretty cool - until you realize that the game was developed by one lone individual, which elevates your impressions from "pretty cool" to "flippin' incredible".

Developer Alan Edwardes has been working on Estranged: The Departure for over six years. The Departure is actually a standalone sequel to Edwardes' first game Estranged: Act 1, a mod for Half-Life 2 that saw a good deal of success on Steam.

The game trailer itself is interesting and exciting enough, but if you want a really deep dive into some of the work that Alan Edwardes put into this game, check out this video on "Bird, Fish and Snail AI". That's right, you read correctly. Snail AI.

Oh, but wait. There's an entire encyclopedia of game development here. Why not take a look at the work done on Zombie Death Poses?

How about a deep dive into different methods of water animation?

This guy is incredible. Spend some time deep-diving on his YouTube Channel. Totally worth it to see how much work he put into his game.

Estranged: The Departure is available on the Nintendo eShop for $5.99., which seems exceptionally inexpensive for such a cool-looking game.
