Voice cast announced for Evil Genius 2: World Domination

More On: Evil Genius 2: World Domination

Normally, I'd see news about casting and keep moving on, but this one actually struck me simply because of who is on the cast. Rebellion has released the voice acting cast for their upcoming RTS game, Evil Genius 2: World Domination, and none other than national British treasure and personal favorite Brian Blessed is on the roster. If you know Brian Blessed's work, character, and boisterous presence, then I need say no more. If you don't, then allow me to introduce you in the best way I know how. Because while Brian has been gracing stage and screen for over 60 years now, it's this clip from a British comedy game show "Would I Lie To You?" that, for me, best sums up the larger than life personality. To briefly set up the show for the uninitiated, WILTY is a show where a panel of British comedians and celebrities take turns telling stories on the spot and it's up to the other team to determine whether the story is a truth or a lie:

And that, to me, is the essence of Brian Blessed. Now add that to a video game villain and you just might have caught lighting in a bottle. If you want to judge for yourself, the trailer at the end of the post is for Read Ivan, the character Brian Blessed is playing. Joining him in the cast for Evil Genius 2: World Domination are:

  • Samantha Bond who was Moneypenny for the Pierce Brosnan run of 007 films, as well as Lady Rosamund Painswick in Downton Abbey and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
  • Glen McCready who wasthe voice of Signor in the BBC & HBO drama Years and Years as well as many other games, including the Harry Potter augmented-reality game Wonderbook: Book of Potions, the Narrator in Strange Brigade, and as the undead airman in Zombie Army 4: Dead War.
  • And Rakie Ayola was recently in the BBC’s drama Noughts and Crosses, the Hostess in Doctor Who: Midnight, and Chief Judge in the 2000 Dredd movie as well as a number of stage roles and the was also in the Rebellion game Zombie Army 4: Dead War as Shola the engineer.
