The Plane Effect is a surreal looking puzzler

More On: The Plane Effect

Announced mere hours ago via its Steam page, The Plane Effect is a bizarre looking puzzle game that is said to be “time-and-mind bending”.

Coming to PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and Switch some time during 2021, The Plane Effect follows Solo. It’s his last day at work, and he’s got to get home. Where is home, what is home? Is there a home? Apparently these are all perfectly fine questions to ask when leaving work. According to the official write-up:

"It is your last day, it's time to clock out and head home. But where is home? What is home? Is someone watching Solo? Get lost in a time-and-mind bending adventure game, set in a dystopian future.”

The game is from a studio called PQube Ltd, a company I hadn’t heard of before today. The studio's repertoire seems to be mainly focused on the Asian market and indie games. I also think it’s interesting that the game is coming out for Switch, but not Xbox One or PS4, at least not officially.

Personally, I’m highly intrigued. The game looks to be indie-pretty, with some interesting elements. Surreal might be underselling it a bit. And what do they mean by plane? The paper plane we see in the trailer? The plane(s) of reality? Seriously, watch the trailer below to see what I mean.
