Romantic space adventure Haven somehow makes me miss bedtime arguments with my partner

More On: Haven

Haven, the artful, romantically snuggly adventure-RPG from The Game Bakers, launched today on quite a few platforms, with quite a few more landing in early 2021.

That's a good problem to have. Since skimming the surface of this No Man's Sky-pretty planet, fending off the worst of the wildlife, but still finding time for pillow talk and strip poker seems like a good time to me. Also good: Enjoying long walks under magenta skies and floating islands; magenta lizards with bioluminescent feathers and glowy mushrooms on their back; magenta post-post-apocalyptic computer cables half buried in their forgotten history; magenta-eyed robots with them thick hips and thighs.

It's been awhile since I've tackled an adventure-RPG, unless you count elements of Assassin's Creed Valhalla—but what are genres even? I'm mostly attracted to two protagonists obviously in love, and not just in the "give gifts to RPG companion until they sleep with you" kind of way. From the opening of this trailer, I already can tell this game was written by people and for people in long-term relationships, because I've had that snarky conversation starter at 1 a.m. with my partner in real life. Not saying they can't still happen. But they're fewer and farther between nowadays.

Haven is out now on almost everything imaginable: PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Series X|S, Steam, GOG, and (hooray) Xbox Game Pass, the subscription that keeps on giving. PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch will have to wait until "Early 2021" to find Haven.
