Bravely Default II - actually the third game in the series, after Bravely Second - was initially expected to arrive sometime in the fourth quarter of 2020. At yesterday's Nintnendo Mini-Direct, it was announced that the game's release date was moved to February 26, 2020.

This is fine for a lot of reasons. The Bravely Default games are pretty big - think old school Final Fantasy - so getting it clear of the holiday/new console rush can only help give the game space to establish itself in the marketplace.

For those that aren't familiar, Bravely Default games are Final Fantasy games in all but name - even going so far as to include stuff like Megalixers and Phoenix Downs. The games use old school Final Fantasy job-switching mechanics, along with a fun combat system that lets players either "Default" (save up a turn for another round) or "Brave" (attack a whole bunch of time, wrecking shop on baddies).

A free demo was released on Switch a while back, which was surprising in both its scope and difficulty. Though Square-Enix is done taking feedback from that demo, it is still available for those that want to take a swipe at the franchise without investing any money (Check out the video below to see how the development team carefully responded to customer feedback from the demo.) And, of course, the first two excellent titles are still floating around for 3DS, if you can find a copy.
